The History

Over a half century ago, Don Mills made history as Canada's first planned community. Inspired by entrepreneur E. P. Taylor, the idea was to build a self-contained community distinguished by consistent design principles and a modernist style.

Divided into quadrants, Don Mills planners sought to preserve greenspaces and provide pedestrian routes between neighbourhoods. Working within the spirit of Don Mills' inception, an entirely new, history-making plan is underway - Ontario’s finest urban outdoor village.
